House did pass the SAVE act on elections. 5 Democrats voted for it but 198 did not. They obviously want illegals voting. Or should I say they definitely want the ballots of illegals so they can fill them out.

I'll ask you. What was in this bill that is different than current law? I haven't looked at this bill.
El Lobo Loco posted this yesterday. I believe the gist is that to register you have to prove you are a citizen and not show a driver's license.

https://truthsocial.com/@Charliekirk/posts/112764461065103658

If not a drivers license, then what?

Birth certificate? Passport?

I'm for it, but just curious how something like that can be implemented in a few months, if not a drivers license/ state ID.

Absolutely, same here. I've always believed people need an ID to vote. A drivers license/ state ID should suffice, but if people are saying it doesn't? Then what does?

If it's something other than above, it has to wait until the 2028 elections.

To register fo vote, yes. After you have been proven to be a citizen, then you can legally cast a ballot. A driver's license does not prove you are a citizen.

No way in hell that can be implemented by November.

I bet a giant portion of the population doesn't have a passport, or their birth certificate, nor know how to get a copy of their certificate.

I'm for it, but 4 months isn't enough time.

I'm so glad you guys have finally come around to the idea of a national ID card. Dems have been asking for that for ages, and Republicans have always shot it down.

https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/8281

"This bill requires individuals to provide documentary proof of U.S. citizenship in order to register to vote in federal elections.

Specifically, the bill prohibits states from accepting and processing an application to register to vote in a federal election unless the applicant presents documentary proof of U.S. citizenship.

Further, the bill (1) prohibits states from registering an individual to vote in a federal election unless, at the time the individual applies to register to vote, the individual provides documentary proof of U.S. citizenship; and (2) requires states to establish an alternative process under which an applicant may submit other evidence to demonstrate U.S. citizenship.

Each state must take affirmative steps on an ongoing basis to ensure that only U.S. citizens are registered to vote, which shall include establishing a program to identify individuals who are not U.S. citizens using information supplied by specified sources.

Additionally, the bill requires states to remove noncitizens from their official lists of eligible voters.

The bill allows for a private right of action against an election official who registers an applicant to vote in a federal election who fails to present documentary proof of U.S. citizenship.

The bill also establishes criminal penalties for registering an applicant to vote in a federal election who fails to present documentary proof of U.S. citizenship.

The Election Assistance Commission must, within 10 days, adopt and transmit guidance for implementing the bill's requirements to chief state election officials."

Can't and won't be implemented by November. It'll get vetoed anyway. Now by the 2028 elections, sure.

If I was a politician I would only vote yes if there was a deadline of the 2028 elections. Maybe the 2026 midterms.

Trying to implement that in 4 months will cause more harm than good.

It's only the way it has supposed to be, all along... but nowadays all you have to literally do is stop in a public toilet to take a dump and you're automatically registered, site unseen.

And yeah, those that have been exploiting as many loopholes as possible with our federal elections are against it.

Sure it should be happening. But to try and implement this in 4 months? Won't work.

We wanted IDs to vote, now it's prove citizenship to vote.

Again, I'm on board with it, but 4 months isn't enough time to suddenly have milllions scrambling to retrieve passports/ birth certificates.

You aren't supposed to be legally registered unless you are a citizen... there is nothing to implement, other than to not let people vote illegally.

Tough concept to digest for some.

If by some slim chance a couple of Democrat US Senators voted for it, you still have a Democrat POTUS to veto it. 2/3's of the Senate is req'd to overturn the veto which won't happen. This effort is all about getting our representatives on record for the people.
