I'll admit to holding off on sharing this. Let's see what we learn over the coming week.

DEWs tested in Paradise, used in Maui and now here? We'll see.

Poor guy. I honestly feel bad for him. He should be living his golden years with family and friends.
He's been an inherently dishonest character most of his life, I just can't find any sympathy, especially with the damage he's inflicted on the nation.

I get what you're saying but Joe doesn't know which planet he's on. The damage to the country is Obama/Pelosi/Soros…etc. Joe is the vehicle, just an empty suit to sign whatever is put in front him.

Thank the Lord Trump won because Harris would have been the same thing.

If I were an atheist, I'd prolly have to change my mind after that miraculous event in Butler PA.

in this case yes. The donations of old equipment two years ago didn't hamper the efforts to put these fire out. Poor planning and underestimating for the worst case scenario plus unprecedented Santa Ana winds did.

You could also add poor leadership at all levels of government as well as lack of funding because said leaders "prioritized" issues/topics/measures based on political sentiment/conviction instead of putting the taxpayer citizen first.

Lack of leadership and priorities in the wrong place was the intended message.

Cool story. Clearly North Carolina suffered from poor planning and underestimating their worst case flooding scenario. Was that poor leadership at all levels of government? Why didn't we see Fox News reporters chasing around local Republican leaders asking about their total lack of flood engineering?

I guess if Dems get convinced to become as classless as you maybe we'll see that next time the NC mountains flood out. And there will be a next time... this is going to get worse, not better.

If the good leaders in NC based all of their planning around global warming and it increasing the likelihood of catastrophic weather events, then yes 100% agree with you. But that is not the case in WNC but it is in California. They base all of their policies on climate change AND fail to plan for the potential consequences of climate change. So yes, that's a failure on California's leadership, both in state government and Los Angeles.

For instance, the mayor of LA should have doubled the resources and money obligated to emergency services, because of climate change, not cut services. The State should have built their water storage capacity which was passed several years ago but haven't done anything because it's not a priority even though climate change is. I can think of a better way to cope with climate change then to build more reservoir capacity.

You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I also find it hilarious that Newsom thinks relaxing draconian environmental restrictions so folks can rebuild is some sort of awesome thing. He should be doubling down and not allow people to rebuild. It's too dangerous because of climate change.

Lets remove the red tape only when it's politically convenient!

The senile kid sniffer commie in chief still thinks he can totally gaslight people with preposterous lies. He says here that as soon as he took office, "illegal immigration numbers went way DOWN"!! And then he mumbles about sending "Secret Service" agents to the border. I guess he meant to say Border Agents.

Hey libtards, what is it like living in an upside-down world alternate reality where illegal immigration went "way down" under Biden, and it was actually Trump that was presiding over and causing the illegal alien invasion?

Duuuuuuuurrp. I'm sure you believe this too...just like you believe in the "72 genders", "men can become women", sending kids to drag queen story time is "great", and unborn children "are not human beings", non-existent "global warming" is going to "melt all the ice caps and kill us all in 5 years", etc etc etc

So you're saying NC leaders should get a pass because they refuse to plan for the more intense storms that scientists have been telling them for years are coming? Lol, got it!

But again, you're view of what happened and is happening in California is clearly being filtered through a hyper-partisan lens that always looks for ways to exploit Dem tragedies for partisan gain. It's easy to find a bunch of half truths during a crises, and a bunch of pissed off people looking for answers, and Fox News, etc takes full advantage.

The reality rarely fits on a bumper sticker, and is never as cartoonish as you're suggesting it is... OMG the fifth largest economy on the planet, with a GDP larger than France, is TOTALLY INCOMPETENT! Please. Could it be that you just don't like Gavin Newsom?

Anyway, fun fact... it turns out LA's fire budget was actually increased by $53 million, not cut. That was half truth bullsh**. In fact almost everything that you guys have been bawling about is half truth bull***** Here's an interesting history of prescribed burns if you'd like to educate yourself on what's really happening there: https://jabberwocking.com/why-dont-we-do-more-prescribed-burning-an-explainer/

One complaint that is totally fair is regarding fire insurance, but that's an example of trying to fix one big problem and inadvertently creating another, not incompetence. It happens.

Good points, but up until the late 90s - NC did not experience the widespread flooding that it is subject to today. And to the state's credit - whether Dem or Rep leadership - the state has made great strides in its public safety response to catastrophic flooding. I know this first hand because (#1) I am the fire chief in a flood prone county and (#2) I have worked firsthand with state officials to improve my fire department's water rescue capability. I did not post after the flooding in the mountains re FEMA, response, etc because it was for the most part an unprecedented event. Not everyone understands how FEMA is set up to work (that is a discussion for another day). I will tell you that once money is sent to the state level from the Feds that it can be become political because the state then releases the money to the local level. My parents house has been flooded twice and my county was one of the last to receive FEMA funding (the buyout process can take several years - another discussion at another time) while predominantly Democrat counties (Robeson) under Cooper's watch received money first. This is fact.

As for California, it is a tragedy that in some ways cannot be prevented but it is not unprecedented in regards to the state's history. There are ways in which a FD trains, equips and responds to these types of incidents. The FD's hands were tied. The problem in LA is that there appears to be clear evidence that the FD was being denied reasonable requests for assistance but apparently turned down because funding was going elsewhere including millions to assist with housing/caring for illegal immigrants. That appears to be fact as well and anyone with common sense can see that the governor and mayor have been negligent to taxpayers they are suppose to serve for essential services while making it political.
