The NC State track and field team wrapped up day two at the 2024 ACC Outdoor Championships with several athletes earning a new best in their respective events and two earning All-ACC honors.

Senior Brett Gardner earned First-Team honors and freshman Angelina Napoleon earned Second-Team honors both in the 3000m steeplechase.

Gardner also recorded a new personal best time in the event, along with teammates Matt Bogdan and Joe Jaster. On the women's side, Alyssa Hendrix recorded a new season best time in the event.

At the conclusion of day two, the Wolfpack women check in at ninth place in the team results with 17.5 points and the men check in at 10th with six points.

The Wolfpack will wrap up action on Saturday, May 11 starting at 2pm with the men's high jump.

Brett Gardner finished third in the event with a new personal best of 8:31.38 to earn First-Team honors

Ok, sam was about 5 seconds off her PB. But it's hard to be critical of Grace with a PB. And they both scored and made all ACC.

I agree with you that the men's team is very disappointing. But that's not the case with the women's distance runners. Still have possibility of women scoring in 5k tonight also.

I'll gladly sandbag the track program if you can deliver championships in cross country. But you can't suck at both.

Agree. And given the current state of all our athletic programs, for the near future in the new ACC going forward you could have some years where women's cross country is the only sport that we win an ACC Championship in.

Bringing Cal and Stanford into the ACC next season will make it much more difficult for us to win ACC Championships in many of the sports that we have recently been winning ACC championships (swimming, tennis, gymnastics, women's basketball).

We won ACC Championships in 5 sports this academic year, but looking ahead to next year, I only feel very confident in winning an ACC championship in women's cross country. And fairly confident with wrestling. Decent shot in men's swimming, but stiff competition with both Cal and Stanford top 5 in the nation last year. Lost our two top gymnasts in gymnastics and very tough competition with both Cal and Stanford also top 5 in the nation last year . Decent chance in women's basketball, but made more difficult with Stanford being a top 10 program. Cal and Stanford both top 10 in the nation in women's tennis this season, making an ACC championship much more difficult in the future.

The NC State track and field team wrapped up the final day of the 2024 ACC Outdoor Championships with four athletes earning All-ACC honors and six earning a new best in their respective events.

Sam Bush and Grace Hartman each earned Second-Team All-ACC honors in both the 1500m and 5000m races. Jirah Sidberry also earned Second-Team honors in the women's triple jump. Freshman Xavier Branker earned First-Team honors in the men's 400m hurdles after placing third.

The Wolfpack women finished ninth in the team rankings with 39.5 points while the men came in 13th with 13 points. The women of Duke and men of Virginia took home the overall team titles.

The Pack will head to Lexington, Ky. next for NCAA Regionals. Action is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 22.

Declarations went about as i expected

On the men's side none of the qualified athletes scratched and it looks like Toby Gualter will get in for the 10k due to scratches. So the men will have the below competing at regionals next week:
