Highlighted by two scores of even par or better in the second round of action, NC State women's golf wrapped up competition at the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational on Monday afternoon.

The Wolfpack shot a combined 598 (+22) in the two-day, 36-hole event that was shortened due to rainy conditions. The team's score was good for a 12th-place finish in a tournament that featured 12 squads ranked in the national top 75.

Isabel Amezcua posted a one-under 71 in round two on Tuesday, which included an eagle on 14 and an additional pair of birdies on her front nine. She shot 148 between the two rounds to finish +4 for the tournament.

Lauren Olivares Leon and Ellise Rymer each posted scores of 149 (+5), with Olivares Leon shooting an even-par 72 on Tuesday and Rymer tallying a team-low score of 76 in the opening round.

Vania Simont (152, +8) and Caitlin Whitehead (158, +14) were also in action for the Pack to round out the five-player lineup.

The Wolfpack turns is attention to the Briar's Creek Invitational, which is set to run March 11-12 in South Carolina.

NC State women's golf is back in action on Monday and Tuesday as it sends seven players to compete at the Briar's Creek Invitational.

The Wolfpack earned its highest finish of last regular season at this event, finishing in a tie for fourth in the 2023 edition of the tournament. Lauren Olivares Leon earned her first career win at the 2023 Briar's Creek Invitational after shooting a three-round score of 210 (-6).

NC State women's golf put together its best outing of the 2023-24 season with a runner-up finish at the 2024 Briar's Creek Invitational, marking its highest regular-season team finish since winning the Ocean Course Invitational in September of 2017.

The Wolfpack shot a combined 281 (-7) in the final round on Tuesday to finish with a one-over par 865 on the tournament and edge third-place Purdue by six strokes. The team's third round score and overall 54-hole score are both program top 10 marks in their respective categories.

Wolfpack junior Lauren Olivares Leon repeated as co-champion at the Briar's Creek Invitational after also earning her first career win at the event in 2023. She joins Brittany Marchand as the only two NC State players in team history to earn multiple career wins.

Four of the Pack's five scorers posted at least one round under par, and three players shot scores of 71 or better in the final round of action alone that was contested on Tuesday.

Olivares Leon secured her victory at the 2024 edition of the event with a pair of under-par rounds. After starting the tournament with a 74, she fired rounds of 69 (-3) and 68 (-4) to finish with a final score of 211 (-5). Her performance was highlighted by an eagle on 10 during round three.

Ellise Rymer earned the second top-20 finish of her young NC State career with her score of 217 (+1) ranking in a tie for 13th. Rymer shot 73-75-69 over the course of her 54 holes, with that final-round mark coming in as her second-lowest round of the year.

Isabel Amezcua started her time at the Briar's Creek Invitational with a one-under 71 before rounding out the week with a score of 218 (+2), and Vania Simont had a one-under 71 of her own in the final round to close out a tournament total of 219 (+3). They both also finished among the top 25 individuals in the field.

Jaclyn Kenzel rounded out the Pack's five scorers with a 228 (+12), and Caitlin Whitehead (231, +15) and Lea Ludwig (238, +22) also competed individually.

NC State is back in action in two weeks for its final stroke-play tournament of the 2023-24 regular season. The Wolfpack will compete at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic on March 29 and 30, with that event set to take place at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, Ga.

The Wolfpack women's golf squad will compete in its final stroke play tournament of the regular season this weekend as it heads to Athens, Ga., for the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The two-day tournament will run Friday and Saturday, and NC State is one of 16 teams competing in the event hosted by Georgia.

NC State heads into its last two events of the 2023-24 regular season coming off of its best performance of the year at the Briar's Creek Invitational. The Wolfpack women's golf team wrapped up its final stroke play tournament of the regular season, placing 15th as a squad at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic hosted by Georgia.

After 54 holes of action at the UGA Golf Course, NC State posted a combined score of 912 (+48), with its best round of the tournament coming on the final day of action on Saturday (298).

Lauren Olivares Leon led the Wolfpack by tying for 14th. The NC State junior shot a one-under 71 in the opening round and went on to post a three-round score of 219 (+3).

The Wolfpack now turns its attention to its regular-season finale as it hosts the Wolfpack Match Play next week on April 8 and 9. The Pack's annual home event, held at Lonnie Poole Golf Course, will precede the 2024 ACC Championships that are set to be held April 18-21 at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, N.C.

Match play with no elimination. Each team will play three rounds. Team matches will consist of five singles matchups, with the winner of each receiving a point for their team. If the team match has not been decided a singles match tied after the final hole is extended one hole at a time until there is a winner. If the team match has been decided, all remaining matches tied after the final hole end in a tie, and each team will receive half a point.

NC State women's golf wrapped up its regular-season slate on Tuesday afternoon as the Pack concluded the Wolfpack Match Play in sixth place, picking up a head-to-head win over Princeton during Monday's afternoon session.

The two-day, 54-hole event was highlighted by NC State's Lauren Olivares Leon claiming three match play victories to sport a perfect 3-0 record, while North Carolina took the team title in a 3-2 win over Virginia Tech in the championship match.

The Wolfpack's week started with a first-round matchup against the Hokies, the tournament's eventual runner-up. Virginia Tech advanced on a 3-1-1 decision, where Olivares Leon took NC State's lone victory in a 4&2 win over Emily Mathews.

The loss to the Hokies pushed the Wolfpack into a Monday-afternoon tilt with eighth-seeded Princeton, who NC State defeated 4-1.

Alongside Olivares Leon, who defeated the Tigers' Julia Kashimura 7&5, Vania Simont, Caitlin Whitehead and Isabel Amezcua each picked up decisive wins for the Pack, with Simony closing out Flora Zhang 4&3, Whitehead defeating Caris Kim 2&1 and Amezcua knocking off Yanjun Liu 3&2.

NC State faced Augusta in the fifth-place match, with the Wolfpack falling 3-2 as Simont and Olivares Leon each added wins to their match play rsums

Simont defeated Kennedy Carroll 3&2 while Olivares Leon clipped Victoria Zheng 2UP.

The Wolfpack will return to action on Thursday, Apr. 18, at Porters Neck Country Club in Wilmington, N.C., for the ACC Women's Golf Championship. The Pack will compete in 54 holes of stroke play action in the first two days of the tournament, with the top four finishers then advancing to match play on the weekend.
