Colleges are in the middle of an extended recruiting dead period, but that hasn’t stopped the NC State coaching staff from evaluating prospects and extending new offers. One of the most recent to receive an offer from the Wolfpack was Denver (NC) North Lincoln standout Jayden Tate‍.

To date, Tate has landed power-five offers from NC State and Louisville. He told Inside Pack Sports recently that it’s rewarding to know that colleges have taken notice of his ability.

“It just feels great to know that all of the hard work that I've put in is paying. The schools that are recruiting me like me at nose guard, but I can long snap also. Both Louisville and NC State have offered me as a nose guard.”

Tate primarily played center this past season but will also line up on defense in 2020 in addition to his long snapping duties.

As for NC State, Tate’s recruiting is being led by Wolfpack defensive line coach Charley Wiles, and Tate told IPS he loves what the Wolfpack has to offer both on and off the field.

“State has a long tradition with a great football program, and the fans are loyal. It is where you can go and get a great education, also.

“Coach Wiles is recruiting me, and I think he is great. He is very honest and straightforward. He’s also very easy to talk to and has a great football mind.”

As for favorites, Tate said he is currently focused on NC State, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Duke, and West Virginia. He plans to make several official visits and then commit afterwards, hopefully sometime in September.

Fellow Wolfpack recruit defensive end Travali Price‍ is Tate’s stepbrother and he said the prospects of them playing together in college is a “definite possibility” and something they’re considering.

Tate plans to enroll early.
