NC State head coach Kevin Keatts announced today that sophomore wing Jericole Hellems will be a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup against UNC Greensboro.

“He hasn’t practiced,” Keatts said.  “I will see him this morning. I was on the road recruiting yesterday, and I haven’t seen him since two days ago. He has not practiced so far.

“It’ll probably be a game-time decision. I’ve got to make sure with our doctors and trainers that he’s fully healthy to be able to go. He’s got to feel good about it, but I also have to feel good about it. I haven’t seen him practice since the incident happened.

“Early in the week, he had a low-grade concussion. From what the trainers and doctors have said, he’s passed a couple of tests for the concussion. As far as his back goes, it was great news. There were no fractures. He had a couple of compound fractures that were from an injury that he had years ago. As far as this, we were blessed that he didn’t fracture anything in his back.”

Hellems was injured in the final minute of NC State’s 91-82 win at Wake Forest.

The 6-foot-7 sophomore has been playing the best basketball of his young career.  Hellems is averaging 17.6 points and four rebounds over the last three games while shooting 55% from the field and 57% from three-point range.
