With the NC State baseball season in the books, the offseason begins quickly. The MLB Draft begins Monday night and continues through Wednesday and it is going to be a big week for current and potential future Wolfpack players. Here’s a look at who to keep an eye on.

I thought everyone had heard that Walston really wanted to go to school. Did that change or are we just assuming since he is about to have a lot of money thrown at him that he is inevitably gone?

I mean if it were my kid he'd be gone. But, if he does really want to come to school then he'll probably ask for a lot more than slot and then the ball is in the Dbacks court and how they look with the bunches of other early picks of dudes that could want more money too.

Walston's whole situation changed when he became a 1st round pick. When he was a projected second round pick he probably had a number above the 1.3-1.5 million slot he was projected that he would need to go pro. Now that he was a first rounder, his slot has jumped up to almost 2.7 mil so if Arizona comes around there I can't see him saying no.

Parker and maybe Blake were the only ones they might be "upset" about. Well, Parker for sure. The rest, meh. I guess I could see Thomas giving it a shot but wouldn't make much sense, IMO. He likes to be busy it seems so who knows. Lol

As far as Soles, hasn't summer school already started?

Soles can always just drop out of school if they give him an offer he is comfortable with. Him being on campus is at least a good sign that he hasn't completely ruled out college.

Edwards is a SR so he wasn't getting anything close to slot. He got more than most but being the first true SR off the board helped I'm sure.

The Thomas thing is very interesting to me. In my eyes, if he wants to be a professional baseball player, why not focus solely on that next year and get drafted in a better position? I suppose if he really wants to continue playing college football, but keep the baseball thing open, signing now might be the best way to make that happen. Interested to see how it turns out.

So the OF can now have McDonough in Center(best defensive player), Butler in Left, & Soles to finally give State a solid everyday RF. Gonna have Bailey behind the plate, Debo & Thresh probably rotating at FB & DH. Then Mensik at TB, hopefully Vazquez at SS, & Brown at SB. Think Vazquez is a better defensive player than Mensik. Tatum, McArthur, & Jarrett will probably lose some playing time. Then others like Chlup, Murr, Thomas, Neese, Highfill, Giles, Butcher, & maybe Torres can fill in when needed.

It's been me guessing but he also was a middle infielder in HS (caught a lot as well) and also moved to 2B towards the end of the year at the end of several games.

It also just makes complete sense (IMO) to put a natural CF in that spot and move a guy to the more natural INF spot.

If Torres stays in school and doesn't sign, this class has the chance to be like the Rodon, Turner, Austin, etc class from 2011. I'm not saying there's a Rodon or Turner type talent in this class but just from a talent getting to school standpoint.
What's crazy is that 2011 class lost 3 or 4 other kids to the draft. Such a strong class that year.
2011 gave us Rodon, Turner, Fincher and Ratledge that all contributed as FR.

I have to think Soles, Villaman (if healthy) and Torres at least help us next year. That's not including JUCO Austin Murr either.
There are several freshman arms that could see some burn too.
