“It’s communication with Dr. Yow and Chancellor Woodson. After our Carolina game the conversation started and pretty quick after that.  I’m very thankful and excited. We love it here, my family loves it here.”

“We’ve built something that we’re proud of and want to continue to build and make better.”

“it’s great to recruit in this state and out of this state with a five-year contract... players want to be recruited by coaches who aren’t going anywhere. I’ve made that commitment to this university and they’ve made it back to me.”

“It  means the world. We call this home. It’s the longest I’ve lived anywhere since I was a child, and we love it here.”

“This was done back in December and finalized here recently.”

“These are really bittersweet days for a coach because you’re so proud of these guys. It’s nice to go through graduation with them, their last games, Senior Day, and their Pro Day... but at the same time you’re, ‘I’m going to miss this guy.’”

“It was a good turnout.”

“Just watching some of the guys it looked like several of them did well.”

“I think at that position it starts with not losing games and that goes to your intangibles and ability to be calm under pressure, consistent, have a routine, and [Ryan Finley] has all those things. There’s a lot of guys out there who can just sling it, and he can do that too.”

“The way he goes about his daily routine, preparation, how he cares about people, his teammates... all those are reasons [Finley] will be a pro a long time.”

‘The only thing we ever got on him about was running, it wasn’t his speed, but he’s not going to have to do a lot of that. He’s great in the pocket, can evade trouble and create on his feet, all those things.”

“You’re always proud to be at a place where you can see landmarks happening. Back-to-back nine-win seasons, and I believe I’m the only head coach that has gone to five straight bowl games at NC State. It’s happened before but those were two separate coaches.”

“You want to leave a legacy here... we’ve done good things but we’re not satisfied with what we’ve done either.  We want to raise the bar with where we’re at. That’s what we’re trying to do in spring ball, improve.”

“I wouldn’t have anything if it wasn’t for the players that I coach.”

“Young people make it happen and you have to recruit the right ones and they need to have the work ethic. My staff and myself have recruited some really good people... that’s what makes it a fun job.”
