NC State To Host Hofstra In NIT After NCAA Tourney Hopes Crushed
NC State has earned the No. 2 seed in the 2019 National Invitational Tournament, matching up in its opening round contest against Colonial Athletic Association's regular-season champion Hofstra.
After failing to qualify for the 2019 NCAA Tournament, NC State accepted a bid into the 2019 National Invitational Tournament, coming in as one of the No. 2 seeds. The Wolfpack’s first game will be Tuesday at Reynolds Coliseum against No. 7 seed Hofstra.
UNC Greensboro joins NC State in their quadrant of the 2019 NIT bracket as the No. 1 seed. Should the Pack defeat the Pride Tuesday evening, State will face either third-seeded Georgetown or sixth-seeded Harvard in the second round, taking place March 21-25. The Spartans will face off against eighth-seeded Campbell with the winner taking on either four-seed Davidson or five-seed Lipscomb.
The only other Atlantic Coast Conference school in the NIT is Clemson, also a No. 2 seed in the quadrant with Indiana as its top seed. The Tigers could potentially match up with the Wolfpack in the tournament semifinals at Madison Square Garden on April 2.
