COMMIT ALERT: 2021 Guard Terquavion Smith Picks NC State

NC State landed a big commitment today from 2021 in-state guard Terquavion Smith‍.

“They evaluated him for over a year, we went to team camp there,” said Farmville Central head coach Larry Williford.  “That gave them a chance to get a thorough evaluation and they went down to see him play. He was there a lot watching them play, and he really fits their style of play.”

A long, explosive guard, Smith is considered one of the top young prospects in the state.  NC State was his first offer back in September of 2018.

“Terquavion fits NC State really well,” said Williford. “He’s a really, really good defender. He has great instincts, gets into the passing lanes, and the faster he plays the better he plays.  That’s kind of unique, but he’s outstanding in an uptempo system, so he should flourish there.”

Smith averaged 18 points and six assists as a sophomore for Farmville Central.

“I think if he would have waited he could have had 25+ offers,” said coach Williford.  “He was really comfortable with NC State and ready to make a decision.”
