On the win...
We’re always excited to win games. It’s hard to win games in college basketball, so anytime you can get a win, it’s good for your team. I wish we could’ve won a little differently, but a win is a win.

On the end of the game...
We didn’t stay with our energy in the second half and that’s something we’ve got to keep up going forward. I think that’s why they were able to get back into the game and make shots.

On being tested...
Not every game is going to be a blowout. We’re going to play a lot of close games this season and
we’ve got to be ready for that and be able to play and win those games too.

On future games...
Every game is exciting and we love to play basketball, but those games are definitely something you come to college for. We want to play against teams of that caliber, so we’re definitely excited as a team for those challenges.

On the game plan...
Mercer is a great team and very well coached.

Their team has historically been very good the last couple of years. They knocked Duke off a couple years ago, so it’s a team that you’ve got to be ready for.

They’ll sneak up on you as you saw. They were able to come back and almost sneak out a win here.  We’ve got to play every game like it’s a championship game.

On team chemistry...
I think it’s good. I thought it was good that we were tested today. Moving forward, every game is going to be a challenge.

On Mercer...
That team’s not going to give up. They’re going to fight until the end. It’s a team that you have to put away when you’re up 20 points. You can’t let them crawl back into the game like that.

On the first half...
We didn’t make shots in the first half and we didn’t get our offense clicking until the beginning of the second half. We’re going to have games like that where you struggle offensively, but you can’t let the other team score. You’ve got to win it defensively like we did in the first half.

On 1,000 points...
I had no idea. They came up to me after the game and said congrats on 1,000 points.

On free throws down the stretch...
We were 16-of-29 from the free throw line and we need to clean that up. It was the first close game we had this season, but it was a great test for us and we obviously passed. We’ve got to improve at the free throw line because that can hurt us down the line.

On Mercer...
They played hard until the final seconds on the clock.

We’ve got to keep our foot on the gas in the second half and keep playing hard. We had them by a good margin and then we backed off. We can’t do that down the line.

On what the team can improve on...
There are a couple defensive things we need to clean up. Our offense is going to come. We’ve got a lot of talented guys on the team who can score.

On Wisconsin...
They’re a good team and it’s going to be a really good challenge for us, but we’re ready to play.
