NC State head coach Dave Doeren met with the media after NC State's 51-41 loss at Syracuse.

"I'm proud of our guys for finding a way to get back in to it. We made it a three-point game there at the end and had the ball with three minutes left. We had an unfortunate... with the interception."

"We were short-handed with some injuries coming in, and a lot of guys got first starts. Teshaun Smith, our true freshman corner, I thought battled."

"Bottomline we couldn't get off the field on third down."

"We needed to score on every possession. That's the kind of game it was."

"You have to give Syracuse credit."

"We didn't make enough plays on the ball, bottomline... we saw the PI they were calling and we were afraid touch guys down the field. There were several times we were right there and couldn't make a play on the ball."

"Their receivers are good players.  You need to have tight coverage."

"We ran our plays and didn't panic... we played our way back into the game.  It really played out how you wanted at the end. We got the ball with three minutes with a chance to go down and win it."

"[Ricky and Steph] were out.  Obviously they were injured.  They didn't have a chance to play in the game so didn't feel like traveling would help them. I thought it was best they stay back and get extra treatment. I don't know when they will get back."
