RAPID FIRE: Grant Gibson

NC State redshirt freshman defensive tackle Grant Gibson was able to gain additional experience this spring during practice.  He is a player to watch going forward for the Wolfpack.

How has the spring gone for you so far?

This spring has been great for me. I feel like I’ve gotten to improve my skills and just hone up on some things that I need to fix. It’s been great to go up against our offense every day and just improve each day. I’ve tried to improve each day and I feel that as a team we are starting to grow up a little bit and I feel like we are going to be ready for this year.

How has it gone replacing two seniors at defensive tackle?

I tried to learn from those guys while they were here. I’m trying to use those things that they taught me while I’m out there on the field because they taught me some really good things to use. I’m just glad to be out there trying to play. It’s a really good experience for me.

How is the competition at defensive tackle?

It’s great. We compete hard each day, we train hard, but we’re also just trying to get strong as a group. We’re young as a group but we also know we can be very good if we just work hard as one. We’re trying to do that each day and I feel like if we do that then we’ll be fine.

Were you an early enrollee last year?

No sir.

So this is your first spring practice?

Yes. I’m very excited. I’ve got my mom and my dad coming up here. It’s just going to be fun to be able to play on the field for the first time. I'm sure that I’ll have some nerves but I think it’ll be more excitement. It’s going to be fun to finally show what we’ve improved on this spring and I think it’ll be a great game for us.

Is this the highlight of spring camp?

For sure. We all look forward to the spring game the entire time. That’s what we are looking forward to the entire spring practices, we want to improve each day for the spring game. I feel like we have done that and I think it’ll be fun for the fans.
