WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
The Florida State Seminoles (15-3, 4-1) and 11th-ranked NC State Wolfpack (13-3, 3-2) match up in a key conference clash at the Donald L. Tucker Center.
FSU is tied for second in the league with Louisville (4-1), while NC State is tied for fifth (3-2). NC State has not visited Tallahassee since falling 75-70 on Feb. 7, 2019.
Florida State and NC State meet for the 51st time on Thursday night. FSU is looking to snap a five-game losing streak vs. the Wolfpack, its longest active losing streak vs. any ACC team. The Seminoles have defeated NC State three times when the Wolfpack were ranked in the AP Top 25, with the last occurring in the 75-70 win vs. No. 9 NC State on Feb. 7, 2019.
Senior guard Sara Bejedi is coming off a career-best scoring performance last game at Boston College. The Helsinki, Finland, native delivered a career-best 26 points, drew eight fouls, went 7-of-12 from the floor, 4-of-7 from 3-point range and 8-of-10 from the line. Bejedi scored 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting in last year's ACC Tournament game vs. NC State.
Freshman guard Ta'Niya Latson ranks in the Top four nationally in free throws made (first; 124), points scored (second; 444) and field goals made (fourth; 147). Only Latson and Villanova's Maddy Siegrist rank in the Top four in all three categories.
Florida State leads the ACC in scoring at 87.3 points per game, a mark that also ranks third nationally behind only LSU (89.7) and Georgia Southern (88.9).
The Seminoles have scored above 70 points in all 18 games played this season. The school record for highest scoring average is 83.8 points per game in the 1990-91 season.
In ACC play, the Seminoles have made the proper second-half adjustments. FSU is averaging 49 second-half points in league play, outscoring its first-half totals in each of its five league games.
FSU is 59-of-66 (89.4 percent) from the free throw line over its past three games. In ACC play it is shooting 87 percent (100-of-115).
Florida State averages 21.2 points off turnovers per game this season.
Makayla Timpson is the first Seminole with seven double-doubles in a season since Kiah Gillespie had 12 in the 2019-20 season.
Ta'Niya Latson owns 124 made free throws this season to lead the nation. The total is already 10th on the FSU single-season list. The most in a season is 189 by Carla Williams in 1995-96.
Florida State leads the ACC by a wide margin in total blocks with 123, which is 38 more than second-place NC State. Last year's FSU squad totaled 141 blocks in 31 games played. The single-season record for blocks is 166 in the 2006-07 season.
The Seminoles are going for their second AP Top 25 win of the season after already defeating No. 13 UNC on the road, 78-71. A win over the Wolfpack would mark FSU's 32nd AP Top 15 win in program history.
FSU is scoring nearly 27 percent of its points (26.7) on 3-point field goals. Its 3-point rate (the percentage of all scoring attempts that are 3-point attempts) is 28.9 percent.
Florida State is averaging 94.3 points in eight home games. Ta'Niya Latson is averaging 26.8 points at the Tucker Center.
FSU is working on a nine-game home win streak that began in last year's home finale when it defeated No. 22 Georgia Tech, 65-63, in overtime on Feb. 24, 2022.
A win over NC State would move FSU to 5-1 in the ACC, which would be its best six-game start since also starting 5-1 in the 2017-18 season
The Seminoles are averaging 0.92 points per play so far this season.
