NC State Volleyball Signs Three for 2023

The Wolfpack volleyball program has announced the addition of three athletes for 2023, as released by head coach Luka Slabe Monday morning.

Slabe said, "Pack Volleyball is delighted to welcome a group of strong young women that will continue to help us build this volleyball program. Every single one can impact our program in unique ways, with a focus always on the team."

Joining the Pack in January 2023 will be freshman Laurna Kerr and junior transfer Skye Stokes.

Kerr, a prep standout at NC Academy, will join the Pack as a defensive specialist/libero. She was tabbed team MVP in 2021-22, in addition to All-Conference honors in 2022-23. She was scholar-athlete, in addition to a member of Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science Honors Society, Rho Kappa, English Honors Society.

"Laurna will add much needed depth to our competitive Libero position. With her calm and poise, she can have an impact on our locker room culture. We are excited to see her development under our guidance." head coach Slabe

Stokes, a junior from Charleston, W.V., will join the Wolfpack after three seasons with the Mountaineers. She tallied 861 career digs to average 2.96 per set. During the 2022 season, Stokes led the team with 369 digs

"Skye's colorful personality, passion for the game, range of her volleyball skill, and Big 12 experience will elevate play in our gym. We need more fearless competitors to help us outwork the competition. We see her as a big contributor to the success of this program." head coach Slabe

Joining the Pack in fall 2023 will be Kate Petersen a prep standout from Leawood, Kan. The setter was tabbed First-Team All-Conference in 2022, Second-Team All-Conference in 2021, and honorable mention in 2020. She was also a member of National Honor Society.

Wolfpack volleyball head coach Luka Slabe announced the addition of another transfer to the program Tuesday morning.

The final addition to the spring 2023 roster is freshman Sydney Daniels.

Slabe said, "We are completing our 2023 spring roster by welcoming home Sydney Daniels, a libero from Raleigh. Sydney is bringing to our program the experience of playing division one volleyball and depth on our roster in the libero position. We are excited to learn what Sydney can add to the growth of the program."

Daniels joins the Pack after a season with Elon. She appeared in all 21 of the Phoenix and recorded a career high 28 digs against UNC-Greensboro. She also recorded a career high three aces against the College of Charleston. Daniels faced the Pack back in September, where she recorded seven digs.

In high school, Daniels was an AVCA All-American, 2020 NCVBCA, and 2020 JVA watchlist honoree. She was also tabbed First-Team All-Conference and All-Region. She was a member of National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and A/B Honor Roll all four years

The NC State Volleyball team has added a fifth member to the 2023 signing class, as announced by head coach Luka Slabe Tuesday afternoon.

Mary Healy, an opposite from San Rafael, Calif., will join the Pack starting in fall 2023.

Slabe said, "We are happy to welcome Mary to our program. With Mary, we are adding depth to our opposite position. She brings with her the experience of spending a full semester as a member of a Canadian National Excellence Program."

Healy played both basketball and volleyball in high school. She brings a number of accolades with her to Raleigh: second-team All-Marin County Athletic League for both sports, 2021 Fight Strength Unity Award for volleyball, 2022 Bulldog Award in basketball, volleyball and basketball MVP in 2020, and 2021 Bulldog Sailing Trophy winner.

Besides her accolades on the court, she also recorded a number in the classroom. Healy is a member of the French Honor Society and the California Scholastic Federation Honors Society.
