NC State junior Kelsey Chmiel has been named ACC Cross Country Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. The honor is the second of Chmiel's career and is her second in the 2021 season.

Chmiel garners the award after a stellar performance at the 2021 Nuttycombe Invitational. The Saratoga Springs, N.Y., native posted a second-place finish at the meet with a 6K time of 20:00.02, marking her second-straight competition with a top-three finish. She was the first member of the Wolfpack across the finish line, and throughout the race she never fell below 16th.

With the finish, the junior placed ahead of 2020 NCAA runner-up Taylor Roe of Oklahoma State and trailed only the USTFCCCA's Oct. 18 National Athlete of the Week, West Virginia's Ceili McCabe.

Chmiel was one of two members of the Pack to finish the meet in the top five and helped the women's squad to a second-place team finish in a field that featured 19 of the top-30 teams nationally.
