NC State volleyball could not slow down a hot-hitting Syracuse, falling to the Orange 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 29-27) in Atlantic Coast Conference action inside of Reynolds Coliseum on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wolfpack (15-13, 9-8 ACC) fought hard throughout the match, including putting up a valiant effort in the third to nearly force a fourth set but the Orange (17-13, 6-12 ACC) kept its composure to hold off and win the match.

Leading the charge for the Pack was junior Taylor Rowland who recorded her eighth double-double of the season with a team-high 19 kills on .283 hitting with a team-high 15 digs. Graduate student Melissa Evans followed behind with her sixth double-double of the season in 18 kills, hitting .317 alongside 11 digs.

Junior Kristen McDaniel controlled the offense with a match-high 45 assists and 14 digs with a service ace while graduate student Kaylee Frazier served as the libero and racked up 13 digs, her 21st double-digit dig performance this season.

Set One (NC State 21, Syracuse 25)
Both teams battled hard early in the first set as all 10 ties happened before the 13th point. Tied at 12, Syracuse reeled off a 4-0 run to force NC State to call a timeout. The Pack fought back to come within one at 17-18, but the Orange recorded a kill and used a Wolfpack attacking error to create enough space to hold one for the first set.

Set Two (NC State 19, Syracuse 25)
Neither team could hold a steady lead early in the set before Syracuse took a 15-12 lead at the media timeout. NC State came out of the break with a fierce 3-0 run that forced Syracuse to use a timeout. The Orange gave up one more point before going on a 4-1 run to take a 20-17 lead it would not relinquish.

Set Three (NC State 27, Syracuse 29)
The third set seemed to be all NC State as the Wolfpack took a quick 3-0 lead and would not trail throughout majority of the set. Syracuse would not let up, battling back to tie the score twice before the media timeout. Trailing 20-17, the Orange went on a 4-1 run to tie the score at 21-all, putting extra pressure on NC State. Syracuse would eventually get to set point but the Wolfpack did not give up, forcing three more set points. The Orange kept faith and won the set off a kill and an attacking error by NC State.

NC State overcame a slow start to earn a 3-1 (18-25, 25-14, 25-16, 25-22) victory over Clemson in Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball action inside of Reynolds Coliseum on Senior Day.

The Wolfpack finished the year with a 16-13 overall record and a 10-8 record in ACC play in head coach Luka Slabe's second season at the helm. After the match, the NC State volleyball program honored its seniors: Kaylee Frazier, Melissa Evans, Pam Chukwujekwu, Taylor Rowland and Jade Parchment.

Leading the final charge was senior Jade Parchment who recorded her eighth double-double of the season in a team-high 15 kills on a blistering .333 clip with 14 digs. Graduate student Melissa Evans showed why she earned All-ACC honors every season she's been at NC State as she finished with 15 kills on a hot .464 hitting percentage.

Graduate student Kaylee Frazier served as the libero for the final time, finishing the match with a game-high 16 digs while adding six assists, tying her season high. Junior Taylor Rowland nearly recorded a double-double on her Senior Day with 14 kills and eight digs. In her final match, senior Pam Chukwujekwu recorded a kill, a service ace, two digs and two blocks as the middle.

Set One (NC State 18, Clemson 25)
Clemson (12-18, 3-15 ACC) controlled the momentum in the set from beginning to end as the Tigers hit .342 with 16 kills and held NC State to a .159 hitting clip. The Pack tried to battle back late, coming within three at 20-17 but Clemson answered with a quick 3-0 run to halt any hopes for the Wolfpack.

Set Two (NC State 25, Clemson 14)
The set began in a battle until Clemson reeled off a 3-0 run to take a 6-3 lead forcing NC State to use an early timeout. The Pack came out of the break with new energy and tied the score at 9-all. Once NC State took charge of the lead, the Wolfpack went on a dominating 8-0 run to take a commanding 22-12 lead it would not relinquish.

Set Three (NC State 25, Clemson 16)
Once again, both teams fought hard to begin the set as all five ties in the set happened by the seventh point. Tied at seven, Clemson recorded three consecutive errors to give the Pack a 10-7 lead it would not let up. NC State's defense stepped up in the latter half of the set, holding the Tigers to a .024 hitting clip.

Set Four (NC State 25, Clemson 22)
The Wolfpack never trailed in the fourth set despite Clemson's offensive pushes. The Tigers tied the score twice at 3-3 and 4-4 but could not get the point to put them on top. The Wolfpack had a slight scare as the Tigers came within one at 15-14, but NC State used a Clemson error and kill from Rowland to create enough space to hold on for the regular-season ending win.

Headlined by the No. 1 overall seed for the first time in conference history, a league record-tying six Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball teams earned spots in the 2021 NCAA Championship, announced Sunday night on the NCAA Selection Show.

ACC Champion Louisville (28-0) earned the conference's NCAA automatic qualification and is the championship's overall No. 1 seed. It marks the first time in ACC history the conference has had the top seed in the tournament. Pitt (26-3) is the No. 3 seed, while Georgia Tech (23-5) is the No. 8 seed. The ACC's three top-eight seeds are the most of any conference.

Florida State, Miami and North Carolina all earned at-large bids. The conference also had six teams earn NCAA Selections in 2017.

Does anyone who follows volleyball closely have a good sense of where the program is headed. I am shocked to see the acc doing so well nationally. Hopefully State will make the jump to ncaa tourney team soon also.

I think this is a good result considering Coach Slabe is only in his 2nd season, and COVID pretty much shut down his recruiting last year. If we have a crummy recruiting class this year, it will raise some warning flags, but I've talked to a former coach (from decades ago) who was impressed with this guys credentials, and, frankly, was surprised State had landed him and wondered if he'd stay...
A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

The Porter Ranch, Calif., native tallied a team-high 33 kills, averaging 4.71 per set with only seven errors for a blistering .377 hitting percentage in the final two games of the season. Additionally, Evans recorded 17 total digs to average 2.43 per set.

On Wednesday against Syracuse, the opposite recorded her sixth double-double of the year with 18 kills on .317 hitting and 11 digs.
