Incoming NC State track and field freshmen Katelyn Tuohy (New York) and Marlee Starliper (Pennsylvania) have been honored as Gatorade State Track & Field Players of the Year for their respective home states.

The honor marks the first in track and field for Starliper, who has already been named Gatorade State Runner of the Year in cross country during 2018-19 and 2019-20. Tuohy also added to her list of honors, earning the award for the third season in a row in track and field. She was the 2017-18 Gatorade National Track & Field Athlete of the Year and the overall 2018 Gatorade Female Athlete of the Year.

The award, which was established in 1985, recognizes the nation's most outstanding high school student-athletes for athletic excellence, academic achievement and exemplary character.

Marlee Starliper - Wellsville, Pa.
2019 USATF U20 3K National Champion 2019 New Balance Outdoor Nationals Mile Champion Won the mile at the Millrose Games during 2020 indoor competition with the nation's fastest time of the season of 4:37.76 State champion in mile and 3,000-meter in 2020 Volunteers with Special Olympics and youth running programs.

Katelyn Tuohy - Stony Point, N.Y.
Owns four national high school records on the track (mile, indoor 3K, indoor 5K, 3200m) Three-time individual national champion in track and field and anchored five national title-winning DMR teams Won 1500m title at the indoor state championship in 2020 with a meet record time of 4:20.81 Volunteers with Rose Memorial Library and with youth soccer and running programs.

The women are part of a talented group of signees who will be joining the Wolfpack family at the start of the 2020-21 season.
