Anthony 'Cat' Barber will be signing with New Basket Enel Brindisi Team in an italian league.
He has been playing in the Gatorade League for the Swarm.
Potentially will give the NBA another shot if he can hone in on some of his skills, particularly from behind the arc where he currently shoots 34%.
Hopefully this move helps his current situation with his family. I enjoyed watching him play for WPN and in Greensboro for the Swarm. Wish him luck overseas and maybe he can catch a flick with our team in Italy.

Will he play against Lacey?

To my knowledge, no.
Trevor plays in the VTB United League, whereas Cat will play in the Lega Basket Serie A.

Any idea what something like that pays? Just curious......

Judging from what I can find on the vast web, his salary will range in the 1k-2k per week.
This is based on what his teammates make.
His salary will not likely be made public until the far future.

Best of luck to him. Going to see the other side of the world and make some money.

Italian league is a respectable league, but the pay isn't as good as other domestic leagues in Europe. He will make somewhere between $75 and 125 thousand tax free money. This also includes free living arrangements, car and per diem for road games.

Where as Trevor Lacey will make somewhere between 200 and 300 thousand playing in Russia for Khimki Moscow which competes in the euro cup. Which would rank third in leagues in the world. 1) NBA 2) Euroleague 3) Eurocup.

China is offering some big money......but the league is not nearly as good as these. Still, NBA teams are stashing players in China, so there is some competition at that level.

Ask Scott Wood what he thought of playing in Italy! 23, single, living in Italy
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Glass,
I thought Scott played in the acb league in Spain.? Which that is the 2nd best domestic league after the NBA.

I could be wrong tho

Scott Wood played for Murcia in Spain, which is not far from the Sea. If I was a professional basketball player I am not sure I would mess with the G-League as Europe pays so much better and the schedule is not a rigorous. Living in Spain, Italy or Greece would be fine with me, especially as a young athlete making good money. This is a solid move for Cat. He probably should have done it sooner.

Professional basketball in Europe is no joke. It is highly entertaining and I try to keep up with it as much as I can.

So I just looked up the town that Cat is playing in. Brindisi is right on the Adriatic Sea. Like most places near the Mediterranean the climate is wonderful. Apparently there was once an American Air Force base nearby. That, along with an influx of British and Irish that retire there, gives it a large presence of English speaking people.

This could really be a great spot for Cat. I know I would have signed there.

Thanks for the update! Glad Cat is doing well and able to provide for himself and his family. I met him at the Apple store in Philadelphia last fall. He was a really nice dude and real cool to talk with

Scott Wood played in Spain and will be playing in Turkey this year. Also, he is married.

The G-League is paying 3 times what they use to pay so I'm not sure living in a foreign country where most people do not understand you and thousands of miles away from friends and family is as nice as living in the US.

In Cat's situation, he has a daughter, it's easier to be seen by the NBA when you are in the country, and he had a $50k signing bonus so I am sure that's why he played in the G-League last season.

I am glad to see Cat making an #honest living, he deserves it.

Is that a normal sized bonus for G League?

This is what I was referring to. So, $50k just for being invited to training camp + his salary + if he earned anything else is pretty nice to stick around for one year and try to get called up to the NBA.

Marcus Paige and Tokota with the racks. Cat Barber and Scott Wood with the rakes...
