I was surprised that Trump used the off the rails approach. He has his base, but it's just 40%. He needed to seem Presidential to cut into Biden's lead.

Trump mishandled Biden's kids, before he cut into Hunter, he needed to praise Beau as a soldier. That would have killed three birds with one stone

Now he's put his kids into the next debate if Biden wants to go there.

All good. I can't even find the post I was responding to now, but know it was there so could have been censored up. What just happened is a reflection of the bigger picture currently, trying too hard to be right and not listening enough. I came out too hot..

I think it will be brought up. For some reason Biden seemed unprepared for how attacking Trump would be even though it was his debate style throughout all of 2016. That first segment was rough for Biden imo though he got better as the night went on (other than the climate change one). So i think Biden's team will definitely try to give him ammo for Trumps kids if Hunter is brought back up (which he will be).

Are you willing to condemn white supremacists and militia groups?

Sure.

Sure I'm willing to do that

I'm willing to do anything. I want to see peace.

I think Trump lost the presidency tonight. Additional attacks on Hunter will do nothing, and Joe probably will let them slide. And who did Trumps makeup? The same person who did Nixon's in 60?

I agree with Dana Bash, that was a zoo-monkey **** fight.

Yet, it was clear Biden is definitely not the dementia ward patient that Republicans hoped and needed him to be.

OTOH Trump was the child that we all know him to be.

When Joe was asked about stacking the SC he refused to answer. Why?

Because, if he wins, that's what he's going to do (or rather what his handlers are going to do).

At the end of the day, none of this changed the minds of Trump supporters nor will it change the minds of Biden supporters. Let's concentrate on why DD has not named Leary as a starter! Good night everyone and remember to vote!

Biden relentlessly lied throughout the debate. Wallace never called him out on it.

Hunter only came up because the President brought him up. Wallace wasn't going to utter the word "Ukraine".

The hillary scandal that broke today - not a peep from Wallace.

Wallace completely let Biden off the hook for blaming everything covid related at Trump's feet ("1 in 500 African Americans dead"). Such an irrational position - but he got away with it all night.

Wallace was a disgrace. He is the new Candy Crowley. I have no doubt he is getting calls of congratualations from his leftist friends at the other networks even as we speak.

Even with all of that, Trump made Biden look pretty out of control and childish.

And for anyone who keeps up with current events - his relentless lying was just stunning. The fact that Wallace totally let him get away with it was even worse.

Wonder why he didn't call one out by name? Why not denounce Proud Boys?
Again, he isn't losing his base, his goal should be to move some of the undecideds. Avoiding actually calling anyone out (except for Antifa, of course), doesn't help him.

Call out Antifa, call our Proud Boys. Call out left wing protestors in Portland, call out white supremecists who hate based on color. Real simple, only tick off a very small handful of people by doing that, and appear, I don't know, halfway presidential?

(and yes, you can easily turn it around and ask why Joe doesn't call out Antifa)

Trump is winning Florida by 200,000 votes per internals . Hispanics are helping him big time.

All Trump has to do is win PA and he's re-elected .

Proud Boys aren't a white supremacy group .

It's a bunch of rednecks that actually just hate white liberal socialists .

I was shocked that the Clinton thing that came out today want brought up. It is absolute journalist malfeasance that Biden wasn't asked about it since the Trump working for the Russians thing had absolutely driven the media and national politics for the last 3.5 year...Biden was in the damn room when it was discussed.

I heard one pundit tonight say getting undecided's wasn't the goal. He wanted to do the following:

  • Get his own base more mobilized
  • Get Biden on record to not support some of the radical agenda of the left. Ex: Green New Deal

If that was truly the goal, then he may have accomplished it. I thought the debate, in general, was a disaster. I think people who like to feel good, will like Biden's approach of talking directly to the camera. I think people who like a fighter will like Trumps grit throughout the whole debate.

I think most Americans, the middle 70-80%, watched that and were disgusted. IF they even made it thru it.

Rule of thumb - the guy who more voters are excited to vote for wins .

Unless the mail in ballot scam pushed by social media companies works then Trump wins because pubs will show up on Election Day . Nobody is walking or driving in cold weather to vote for Biden if they aren't excited to do so.

Sounds like you were in the 20-30%... like I said above, if true, then he may have accomplished his goal. Just look at the responses, on here, from Trump supporters.

The disaster I saw was from Wallace. A number of points were just not followed up on when they could have: Supreme Court, green new deal, Hunter Biden's involvement in Russian money, The new revelations about Hillary's campaign and Biden's involvement.

Then, Wallace continued the false narrative about Charlottesville. Please, everyone, go back and read or watch what was exactly said by Trump.

I think the revelations, this week, are exactly what's wrong with our country. This government was truly out to squash Trump from the very beginning and Biden knew about it the whole time. That's what's truly disgusting!!!

Debates are stupid in the first place. They really don't tell us much. Just who prepped the best.

I don't want someone who can win a debate and think on their feet in front of something as unnatural to most people like live TV.

A President is never, ever going to have to make a decision in such a short time frame as they have to formulate an answer and spell it out in this setting. I want a guy who considers options, consults with his advisors and experts in whatever it is he's working on, and makes a sound, reasoned decision.

That's neither of these boobs.

That said, I watched a few minutes and turned it off. Then tried a few more minutes a time or two again.

This was just a sad night for America.

330 million people in this country, and these 2 fools are the best we could find?

You're underestimating the number of people who are strongly anti Trump. In 2016 more people on both sides were motivated by being against the opponent, rather than for their candidate. That'll happen again for 2020. But Trump's base hasn't gotten any larger and the opposition has.

Maybe Trump wins. Maybe he loses. But if he loses its not just because of the "mail in ballot scam." That is stupid

He's not going to lose because of actual mail in fraud, he's going to lose because his hollow accusations of fraud are going to keep the older GOP base away from the polls altogether.

Republicans need mail-in as bad as Democrats but they've cut their legs out from under themselves with their baseless accusations of fraud.

Mitch McConnell knows this and has tried to manage Trump's blathering about mail-in but Trump is unmanageable.
