How long do you want to ignore this user?
My son will be starting his freshman year in Engineering this fall. Any suggestions from current or recent grads on what laptop I should get him? All I've "heard" is to stay away from Apple laptops for Engineering students.

Alienware Area 51m laptop. Can upgrade with desktop processors and graphics cards over several years. If he is really good, can use graphic cards as a super computer. This is not a light weight laptop -- will help build some muscles, but will blow away everyone around him. 10nm processors should start shipping later this year and 7nm processors late next year or early following year ---- hence need for upgrades.

I had a Macbook through my ME degree and had no software limitations. Anything will be fine honestly. No need to go crazy on price by any means
