Awesome news! I know many of our fans want to see him go but if we keep knocking, we'll break through eventually. He has us as a top 20 program and he's an alum who loves the school.

I wonder if this was a "retirement deal" to keep Coach on until the new AD comes in. Helps him recruit, but maybe there's an understanding he'll announce retirement towards the end of the second year. Total conjecture on my part and maybe farfetched. Just a thought.

Or NC State reminded Coach Avent that mandatory retirement is at 72 and they are not going to extend him beyond that age.
