COMMIT ALERT: Akron Safety KJ Martin Picks NC State
NC State just landed a commitment from Akron transfer safety KJ Martin, who was on campus this week for a visit.
Martin began his career at West Virginia, where he was on the Pro Football Focus All-Freshman Team (Third Team) after he played in 12 games at free safety – including four starts as a freshman -- in 2019. He finished the season as the sixth-leading tackler for the Mountaineers with 50 tackles, including 35 solo stops, 2.5 tackles for loss, and five pass breakups.
He transferred to Akron in 2022, and as a two-year starter he was a key contributor in the secondary. In 2023 Martin was named to the All-MAC third team after posting 45 tackles and 16 solo hits. He registered a second-best six pass break-ups and tied the team-lead with two interceptions to finish the season ranked 11th overall in the MAC.
Martin finished the season ranked 11th in passes defended (6 break-ups, 2 INT) and 14th overall in interceptions (2).
He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
